Also, the puggies' really really good friend Hank now has a blog! Can you believe it? The Indianapolis pug blogging scene is taking over the world! Please visit Hank's blog here and welcome him to the dog blog world.

For the Bugg Lovers...

Oh the Bugg has had one of those weeks! Look at how adorable she was today... we added some props, haha.

A few days ago, I started calling Bugg "Buggy Houdini." Listen to the TWO stories of what she did:

First, when I was cooking dinner, I looked down... and there was Bugg's harness. There was no struggle at my feet, and they have NEVER gotten their Buddy Belts off before on their own. Then that night, I hooked them all up for their walk. It doesn't take a genius to hook up a leash- I definitely secured them all correctly. I open the door, they all three run onto the porch. Then I notice Bugg is just standing there, waiting to walk- completely unleashed. How it came unhooked, I have no idea.

The magic of Buggy Houdini!

BEST FRIEND'S GOTCHA DAY!

Hi everyone it's Sophie Sophie. Today is a VERY important day. It is my BEST FRIEND Pearlie-Poo's gotcha day!

To celebrate I made some shart-less shartwork for my bestie. I took one of daddy's CD's and added Pearl to it! It said her name already so I figured she should have been on it to begin with.

What do you think?

Happy Gotcha Day, Pearl! Oh and FYI Pearlie's Mommy's birthday is next Tuesday, can ya believe it? What a cool week for Pearl and her family!

Harley's First Monon Walk!

Sorry about not writing much. I (Kelly) have been feeling in a funk, just kind of down because of the whole unemployment thing. It's hard to face that I am applying for so many jobs and not getting them! I was just turned down for one because I didn't have as much experience as the other person, even though they "loved" me. I'm 23... how much experience can I have, really? I can't get more if no one will give me a chance!"

Anyway, enough of that rant. Speaking of being 23, I turn 24 on April 2! Fiance knew I was feeling down and bought me my birthday present early- a Wii!!!!! The Bugg just LOVES freaking out over it.

Jealous!!!!

Today we decided to enjoy the nice weather once Brian got home from work. We haven't been to the Monon Trail since probably September, and we got Harley in October. That means- it was Harles' first Monon!!!!

The pugs had a GREAT time. They practically pulled us. Of course we stopped and got them water at the halfway point.

Harles was SO excited that he lead the way. He was practically running after the dog there in front of him (can you see it way far up the Monon?) Look at his ears flapping away! He almost looks like a Frenchie!

Needless to say, we have some tired puggies. I guess they decided not to work for the Snuggle Puggle today since Mommy's unemployed- they're going to be too.

Looking as silly as the Bugg here does take work, though!

I love using the macro setting on my camera to get up close pictures. The only thing that stinks is the shutter speed is slow which means if they move at ALL, it's fuzzy. Sophie's was the best, but Harles always seems to move. He sees the camera light aim and gets all confused!

Now that I'm feeling a little more positive and upbeat (and have a Wii!) look for more updates soon!

Mommy's Updates

Kelly here- Sophie was right I have been lazy! Lots of naps!

First I have to plug- TODAY IS EXACTLY ONE YEAR UNTIL OUR WEDDING!!!!! Woohoo!!! We officially picked March 20, 2010 in January. We really are happy to now count in months and days, no longer "one year and" countdowns.

Also, take a look to the right at my list of friends! I finally updated them! Please check and make sure you're there (some are by blog name and some are by doggie name... I can't get my act together!) I use Google Reader so I hadn't been updating- but I want all of you to know all my blog friends! So please check 'em all out!

Additionally... I am shocked and excited about the Indy blogging scene! The Indy pug bloggers are myself, Laura, Vikki, Stacy, Heather, Jessica, and Jami! We all attend the pug meetup here. I cannot believe that it started with just me. I had no idea how wonderfully crazy these ladies were until they started theirs too! I now can't imagine my life without my pug friends! If we can just get Sarah to start one (her main pug is Hank who can say "I Love You!") then I'll be the happiest girl around! And now maybe we can make all our bloggy friends visit Indy!

I'll leave ya with this CRAZY video of the Bugg... Dixie and ONLY Dixie gets really worked up over this Dell commercial. She will wake up from a deep sleep at just the first sound of it! This is actually a MILD reaction from her.

Lazy Mommy and LOTS of Birthdays!

Hi everyone! It's me, Sophie Sophie. Wow what a crazy week. Today is our grandma's birthday!!!!

She calls us her grandpugs. Besides pugs she is definitely not a grandma. This is her profile picture on Facebook (sort of like Dogbook for you Dogbook members) and as you can tell she is a pro swing dancer! She dances like crazy and is really really good at it. Sometimes when I chase my tail I pretend I am dancing like Grandma! We love you Grandma, Happy Happy Happy Barkday!

MONDAY, the 16th, was DADDY's birthday!!! Mom and I decorated the house for him and then we baked him a cake. Mommy says next time she'll do this as a sheet cake- it's a new from-scratch recipe that is in a cake book she has. She said the icing was a little like donut icing! YUM! I wish she had shared. The cake was a spice cake. There are 2 candles, one that's a two and one that's a seven, because Daddy is now 27!

Mommy got Daddy a phone for his birthday and we got him a case of beer. How does he repay us for our GENEROUS gift? Goes to Benihana with his friends and Mommy. They showed us the pictures at least. This is from the eggs they used to make fried rice.

This is one of the guys who cooks! He was playing the drums for Daddy cuz it was his birthday!

Because Mommy is unemployed you'd think she'd blog more, right? WRONG. She has been doing a lot of errands and applying for jobs and a lot of napping (LAZY!!!!) so she hasn't paid nearly enough attention to the dog blog world. Because she's so neglectful I decided to post some lovely photos that have been sitting on her camera.

This is baby Harles' face up close!

This is me and Dixie looking confused. We LOVE the sun! Since Mommy is home in the day we get to bask!

This is me and Dixie sleeping. Thanks for interrupting our mid-morning nap, MOM.

This is a picture of Dixie with a toy her boyfriend got her. And then look at the hot dog toy Clover got us... it was placed there by accident!!! BOL!!!!

BAHHH ITS ME IN YOUR FACEEEE LICKIN' YOUR NOSE!

Check out that Bugg tongueeee ewwww!

Harles up close and personal! Look at that beautiful pug in the background...

Ok! That's all for now. Hopefully she'll drop this boring act soon.

March in the Pugs 2009!

On Saturday, Mom and Dad took us to March in the Pugs! We were LATE since Mom and Dad stayed out late Friday for stupid JODI. When we got there, Ernie was getting ready to run a race. Guess what- he won! He sort of speed-walked to victory, go figure. Here he is with his mom!

Our buddy Lilo came too! SHE JUST STARTED A BLOG! Please go check it out and welcome her! Look at her cute nose-guard and her Hooters Girl outfit!

This bulldog, Reggie, came dressed as a pug. He looked like a FAT pug!

The Pug Posse dad got really tied up in leashes!

Mommy put our costumes on us.... we were find with this until the hats came on.

We were the Three Pugmigos again. Mom was VERY SERIOUS about us winning the costume contest for the 4th time.

Our pal Pugsley came to the contest dressed as a LION!!! Cool right! That's him with his mom!

The hats went on. Ugh. Next costumes are going to be hat-less.

Dixie and Harley wore the hats too. They fit them better but mine goes over my head too much.

This is part of our MAIN COMPETITION. This pug is Layla, she has some use of her front legs and none of her back legs. She does make a gorgeous pug-maid!

We all waited with Mommy until the group contest started.

LOOK AT THESE GUYS!!!!! They have a pug pirate, Layla the pug-maid, and then their owners are pirates too with an ocean and a ship! Who do you think won?

Before I tell you, here are some other contestants! These are the dancing pugs!

The pug pirate crew...

Ok ok we will tell you... we TIED for first place!!! Obviously the pirates tied with us. We were REALLY lucky to tie. Pee-S check out how badly I can't SEE!

Pugsley was ready to get out of his costume.

Here is a dragon!

And here's a pug from the "Chinese New Year" group!

Here's that pug pirate. He was so cute!

Eli entered in the kissing contest. They came in first place!

This is Rocco and he came in second!

Pugsley entered with Laura (Salinger's mom) and they came in third... wow did they enjoy the kissing contest!

Dixie managed to steal a rawhide for a minute!

Mommy and Daddy entered some raffles and won this Eye-Yoo basket!!!!!! We don't really get it.

Gus almost lost his Pug Posse bandana!

Here is our whole family. We love them so so much!

Harles was RUDE and tried to sit on Lilo's Mommy's lap... WHILE LILO WAS THERE!!! He was getting butt scratches though so who can blame him right?

This is Pixie... we have wrote about Pixie the Puglebrity a few times. We love when she comes out and shows people that she's around now and enjoying life because of KPR providing her surgery!

On the way home Bugg got the front seat.

And we all pretty much pooped out... especially this front seat Bugg!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for our Daddy yesterday! We had SUCH a fun day and we bought him a case of beer and a card! Mommy got him a new phone and decorated the house AND baked a cake! Maybe she'll show you guys later????

Ok peace out, time to go sleep some more!

Mama's Boy

Kelly here- we are TIRED! What a fun weekend. Brian and I were exhausted today because of our crazy weekend- the impromptu trip to Dayton to see Jodi Picoult, and then a day of March in the Pugs! I have lots of pictures to share tomorrow. Also- tomorrow is Brian's birthday! So the pugs have lots of planning to do!

I wanted to share this adorable photo of Harles:

Whenever I shower, Harles guards me. Before the pug event, I showered while Brian tried to feed the pugs. Harley wouldn't leave the bathroom! Brian had to feed him in there with me! I tried for a no-shower Sunday today (college throwback) but had to shower an hour ago due to intense griminess. I asked Brian to grab this pic for me. I love my little boy!

IGNORED for Jodi??

Mommy hung out with me (Sophie) and the rest all morning. Then she went to an interview at some place. She came home and then RIGHT at five her and dad left. They JUST got home. What did they ignore us for??? Someone named Jodi.

Mom came back with books and pictures. She keeps saying tomorrow will be so good we'll forget about being neglected. But I found out they drove all the way to OHIO! That's another STATE! I hope they really can make this up to us....

Mommy's note: We went to Dayton to see Jodi Picoult, my FAVORITE author! And tomorrow is March in the Pugs... watch out, puggies!

Indy Mutt Strut

Hi everyone it's the pug Momma! I wanted to share some info with you!

I signed our whole family up for the Mutt Strut here in Indy. It's at the famous Indianapolis Speedway, and it's very cool that they let the dogs walk on it!

You can visit my page here. We'd LOVE any donations from you guys! And if you are in the area, we'd love you to join our team! I can't wait until April 26th so I can share the pictures with all of you!

A PARCEL from Clover!

Hey everydog it's Sophie. How ANNOYING are all of my mom's posts?!?!?! This "onion-ply-mints" thing is really making her blog-crazy. Hopefully she will start leaving during the day again so we can get some SLEEP!

Anyways, remember when Clover Badger posted that great post about Random Acts of Kindness? And we won? Well Mom FINALLLLLY picked up our package at the post office! Clover called it a parcel which we think is such a neat word. Mom loves Canada and thinks Canadians are super cool because they use words like that! Anywho we sniffied the box like... forever.

There was a super kewl card in there with two doggie pals. Thanks so much Clover!

There were some GREAT stuffies and toys in our parcel. This is Rainbow Octopus. Dixie found him tasty.

There were also three bags of treatables. Canada style. One had bacon in it which I am sure was Canadian bacon.

There was also a beaver stuffie which is a well-known Canadian animal. As per usual, Bugg got right on that stuffie. She never lets us have first chew.

Me and Harles KNEW there was more in there and didn't wait for Mom to open them for us.

Dixie and I even shared one of the stuffies can you believe it?

Look at these treatables!!!! Pure fresh Canadian treatables, eh!? They tasted VERY yummy.

Literally we just couldn't get enough.

I has a hotdog?

This little rubbery cat thing squeaks SO LOUD. Dixie is like, in love or something.

Mom photographed some of our tasting. Harles says, "bon appetite!"

I worked hard to get many good tastes.

Dixie became a certified MADWOMAN!!!!

Also, he'll be embarassed that I'm showing you but LOOOOOK what Clovery Clover Gal wrote for Harlesssssss!

Harles and Clover peein' on a tree! S-N-I-F-F-I-N-G! I bet these lovers will be going on a date soon... I think I heard him talking about a Canadian hockey game... luckily Mom is "onion-plyed" so she has lots of time to drive them wherever!

Living Room Update- What the Pugs Think

Gee everyone, with me being unemployed, you're going to get sick of me! Dixie and Harley tested some of their favorite activities in the newly arranged living room. Check it out!

Before: Harley used to perch like this on the couch arms.

After: Harley really likes the new spacious spot!

Before: Dixie says "Mom, there is no room for me in the sun with this furniture!"

After: Dixie now has plenty of room to lay out in the sun!

Of course, Sophie is still doing assessments. You know how she is! Updates later.

Oh and since a lot of you asked- unemployment is going well, I have two second-interviews this week, so keep those fingers crossed!

New Living Room! Bye Bye, PLAID!

Hey friends- it's Kelly! Sorry for the teaser this weekend! We were so exhausted with daylight savings time, moving stuff, and table shopping, that we POOPED OUT! Today is day ONE of unemployment for me, so I have TONS of time to pet these pugs and take their pictures!

Dixie Bugg LOVES the new couches. They're like a microfibery fabric, and I have zero idea how to care for them!

Brian's mom gave us many pillow options. We loooved the gold/blue ones but they did not match :( Sophie helped us pick!

"This is too many pillows, Mom."

I jumped in the pillow pile to appreciate these puggies!

Dixie also loved the pillows!

Sophie still figured out how to get to the top of the couch.

The others were from yesterday, but the next pics are from this morning. I've been putting blankets down because they LICK and it makes the fabric feel weird. This is how they were ALL MORNING.

We bought two tiny tables and are selling our old, huge coffee table (it was 4 feet by 2.5 feet! Too big with these couches.)

Now we have way more versatility.

Bugg is the only one who wanted to stay in the photo! Thanks Buggggg.

What do you all think!!?!

March Meetup and a SURPRISE!

Hey everyone it's Sophie. Wow did we ever have a PAWESOME day!!!!!! Mommy and Daddy were running around all morning and we felt neglected. But then they got home and took us TO THE PUG MEETUP!

We were like all of three minutes late and our friends were ALL THERE partying already. Woodrow aka "Woody", the Boston Terrierist, was in rare form. He's always crazy but he jumped up a tree like twice as tall as Mommy to get this branch!

Everyone was laughing. He ran around with that stick for a while!

This is Roscoe. He was at the Halloween meetup and was just pretty much a pup then. He looks like Bugg but he's a Pug and Frenchie mix.

Woody seemed really interested in "making new friends.

Ok I'm just putting this out there since Murphy Dogg is my friend but I think Dixie and Woody had like maybe a little TOO much fun maybe?

There may or may not have been some legit hump action before this picture.

Look at how CRAZED Woody looks!

Anyways Mommy of course gave me hugs and stuff and my ex-almost-pugmother-in-law said hi too.

Harles and Dixie were pretty much attention stealers all day it was soooo obnoxious.

There's that randy little ball of energy Woody.

Here are all the pug blogger Mommas that were there- Pugsley's mom, Salinger's mom, MY mom, and the whole Pug Posse's mom!

Check out Dixie's ear! It was SO super windy at the park.

I also made a super cool new friend, Winnie! She was at a meetup like MONTHS ago and was a wee puppy. I thought she was so fun. Pearlie I want her to come hang out with us!

Look how fun she is! Way funner than Dixie and like 100% less slutty. Sorry Dixie it had to be said.

There were like pugs for miles at this meetup.

This lady came up to Daddy and asked to hold me! She said I was the perfect size... well DUH! I really liked her she was nice.

Then ok we get home and get a BIG surprise... Grandma gave us NEW COUCHES!!!!!! And they match my beautiful fur!!!!

Dixie thinks this one is hers. WHATEVER. She is clearly just too stinky to sit with the rest of us.

Mommy will update you more on the new pug-colored couches tomorrow. They are super tired, she said they moved like four couches today or something. Why they did that I don't know but whatever we have cool couches and I am not like cross-eyed by the plaid anymore! YAY!

The Reason For Nose Guards

Sophie likes to lick the other pugs, thus, they put up nose guards sometimes.

THIS is why!

Thursday, March 5, 2009

We are the cutest pugs ever.

Hey it's Sophie... Mom's been practically running a PSA campaign the past few days. Too many bleeding hearts, not enough me us.

We are sooo bored of her up on her soapbox!!!

I wish she would just shut up and pet us already.

She has other things to concern herself with. PETTING US. And giving us treatables.

There are heads to be pet and prezzies to be purchased.

Life is short, woman! LOOK HOW CUTE WE ARE! Now give us dah pets!!!!!!

HELP STOP PUPPY MILLS!

Here's a flyer I got today from a coworker: (FYI tomorrow is my last day!)

If you can't read the writing, it says:

There's a world of suffering hidden behind the puppies for sale in many pet shops and on the Internet. The pups are often born at abusive "puppy mills" - filthy, overcrowded factories that breed dogs with a variety of health and behavior problems. Thousands of dogs in Indiana are languishing in such facilities, where they'll never know the pleasure of a treat, a toy, or a bed, or the feel of grass under their feet. Urge your state senator to vote YES on H.B. 1468. Call 800-382-9467.

I don't know if this is just Indiana, so everyone should try! Additionally- everyone should forward this to friends! It is SO meaningful to us because Sophie and Dixie came from a facility described above. And although Sophie happens to hate the feel of grass beneath her feet (with it being frozen and such from the cold), she's so lucky to even have the opportunity! I also am not sure why the bubbles above the pug feature a gerbil, cat, fish, and frog... but I'm sure that's just those animals showing their support of H.B. 1468!

Call and forward today!!!!

Teddy Needs Your Help...

Pug Momma here again... you guys must be sick of me! Anyways, there is a need for help in KPR-world that I wanted to share with all of you. This is Teddy:

My friend Annie with KPR sent this message:

Ever known someone with Cataracts? and you have to sit back and watch them slowly lose their vision? Well, some of you might not realize, this can happen to a PUG too.

Teddy is a beautiful 2 year old Pug that has cataracts. Like humans, we have the option of doing surgery to remove them. Unfortunately, UNLIKE humans, Teddy has no job or insurance to help cover this cost. The surgery is very expensive and will cost KPR over $2,500. This is A LOT of money for our rescue to come up with. SO! we are asking all volunteers, family members and devoted PUGLOVERS to help Teddy! If you could donate even 10.00 that will go a long way toward covering Teddy's expenses. He is a young, vital Pug with ALOT of life left and we want to do our very best for him. If you want to become a Friend of Teddy's then please go to our website www.kentuckianapugs.com and click the donate button!!!

As always... thank you for supporting KPR and the PUGS!

If you are able, thanks for helping Teddy! He surely needs it and will probably get adopted right up once this is fixed! Thank you all so much for helping if you can, and for forwarding this on to anyone you think will want to contribute.

Working With The Snuggle Puggle- 7th Day!

We are working for Eduardo the Snuggle Puggle yet again, but this time it was NOT fun. Our Mom assigned us dentist jobs. Namely we were supposed to get clean teeth. She figured it would be an easy job... she was wrong.

She bought us this toothbrush and toothpaste set when she was out buying our friends some prezzies this weekend. Had we been there, we could have told her the money would have been better spent on treats, toys, or heck- even shampoo, since this really did not go well.

We did some sniffies.... but then Mom put goop on it and SHOVED IT IN OUR MOUTHS.

No.

That was the end of our tooth-care-work. Next time Mommy says she's making Dad help... yikes!!! Save us!!!

In other news, Mommy is feeling down this week. She read about Bogart through all us DWB-ers, and was so sad to hear that his Daddy is now gone. Then Mommy found out that someone who adopted a bunch of KPR dogs lost her husband too. We don't get why these things happen! But we have to say we're happy we have all of you to support all of us blogging dogs- and we know that all of you will tell us about lots of GREAT things too and make our Mommy happy again!

Dixie + TV = LOVE

Dixie LOVES the TV.

And not even just when dogs are on... any image will do, really.

Pup PSA!

I'm sure most of you know this- but since I was surprised, I figure I should notify everyone else out there!

There are lots of foods dogs shouldn't eat. Whenever in doubt I've checked the Kentuckiana Pug Rescue web site, their list is:

alcoholic beverages
cherry pits
mushroom plants
peach pits
tea (caffeine)
tomato leaves and stems
avocados
chocolate
coffee
apple seeds
macadamia nuts
mustard seeds
rhubarb leaves
walnuts
apricot pits
moldy foods
onions and onion powder
salt
yeast dough
potatoes

I also know that garlic should be added, since it is similar in effect to onions. HOWEVER, in my Hungry Girl e-mail today (have you checked out hungrygirl.com? Oh you should!) I found out that GRAPES are bad!! The e-mail said they contain a toxin that can cause kidney damage. YIKES! We have actually given the little bits of grapes before. Raisins are the same as well. Just be careful dog-pawrents! I know we will be!
