PAWCTION for KPR!

Hi everyone. I have some very sad news, Mommy is like super sad right now. She got this e-mail this morning from Annie, the nice KPR lady that helped get us adopted:

It is with a heavy heart I am writing because our rescue is in dire straights. For the first time in the history of Kentuckiana Pug Rescue, we have made the horrific decision to stop intaking pugs in need. We simply don't have the funds or foster homes to continue taking on additional pugs at this time. We have over 130 in Foster care and many require ongoing medical treatments and medicines. Cost for Heartworm Preventative and Flea Control alone costs the rescue 2,000.00 a month.

Hug a Pug is simple..we are asking people to donate 10.00 or more if you like!! and to spread the word to your dog loving friends and family. please...consider that 10.00 will go a long way toward KPR being able to begin taking in Pugs in need again.

You can visit our website at www.kentuckianapugs.com. Click the donate button. Your contribution IS tax deductible.

Thank you in advance.

Annie

Vice President

SO Dixie Bugg and I decided to do something! We are not so good with the camera but ok get this, we are having a PAWCTION! It's like an auction for doggy stuff. My Mommy has all this jewelry from when she used to sell it and she doesn't need it anymore... it is really purty but she says pugs are more important. SO what we did was took pictures of it with the prices of what you would usually pay for it. We blocked the brand because we weren't sure if we'd get in trouble, but all of them still have their tags on it and boxes and stuff. If you donate $20 to KPR, you can pick out one of these beautiful items!! AND for $35 you can get two!!! If you want to donate, it is first come first serve for these beautiful jewelry items. Just e-mail to pugandbugg@yahoo.com with what you are going to donate and which item you want, and we will send you more details.

Here is the jewels!

Item 1: This necklace charm is silver with a cool texture and shiny red gem in the middle. Usually sold for $28!

Item 2: These earrings are gold and silver so they match all your jewelry! Usually sold for $30!

Item 3: This necklace in a Y-shape has brown tones of cut crystals, and a suede-y cord. Usually sold for $46!

Item 4: This red-themed necklace has lots of beautiful cut crystals. This will be great for fall! Usually sold for $78! And you could have it for $20!!!!!

Item 5: This necklace charm is fun and whimsical, in both gold and silver so you can wear with a gold or silver chain! Usually sold for $30!

Item 6: This charm is gold with a black stripe. It would look great on any gold chain. Usually sold for $22!

Item 7: This necklace is silver with a genuine turquoise stone! Simply gorgeous! It usually sold for $38!

Item 8: This necklace is 17" and the only thing that doesn't have a tag- it fell off, whoops! Which led her to "mis-mark" it, silly mommy, it usually sells for $110 not $75!!! It is pricey because it is reversible gold or silver, and is thick enough that it holds that side when you wear it. It would look great with any of the necklace charms!!! $110 and you could have it for a mere $20 donation to puggies!

Item 9: This silver charm holds mother of pearl and jasper stones. It can go on any necklace chain. Usually sold for $38!

Item 10: These beautiful blue crystal earrings are for pierced ears... usually sold for $22!

I would really like to get rid of all of this stuff, because it would mean at least $175 would go to KPR. However, if you want to donate more, GO RIGHT AHEAD!!!! I hope you all will try and donate if you are able. Thanks, Mommy and the pugs in rescue will be so so happy!!!

A Stain for Joe Stains

Joseph Stains: I, Sophie T. Pug, respectfully would like to submit this stain for review.

It is impressive, yes, but not what you think. But you never really specified what type of stains you applaud...

It's just that... I have a licking problem. I like to lick... a lot. Sometimes I go a little overboard. We're considering rehab.

WASTEFUL WALLYMELON!?!?!??!

WHAT? We were watching TV with Mommy and Daddy, so innocent, when they turn to the TC. TC stands for Torture Channel!!! It's real name is Food Network but we think it should be called TC because guess what they did.

I can barely stand to watch... the judge is talking about them... CARVING... the wallymelons...

Oh yum, that tower with wallymelons looks delish. Wait, what? No one eats them? And they THROW OUT the pieces they take out during carving? TORTURE!! I asked the bugg what she thought...

...but I'm not sure she is even watching since her eyes look two different directions.

It's enough to drive anypug to drinking.

Early Morning Holliday Park!

This morning I had an eye doctor appointment early, and took the scenic drive home past Holliday Park. Of course it was tempting, so when I got home we got all packed up and Brian and I took the girls there.

It was the perfect temperature, and the trails there are just gorgeous. Some parts have wooden paths like this, but most are dirt paths. The muddy parts had boards down over them for you to walk on. Dixie just ran on through the mud, but Sophie...

She can't stand to get her feet wet. Here we are walking across a log:

Although Dixie did walk on the log, she jumped off after the video and walked in the water! After the hiking down to the water, we gave the girls a drink in their portable water bowl.

I thought they looked like a cute little yin-yang here!

The park is more than just trails, it's also an art center and a playground. The art center part has this cool sculpture, it's a huge marble ball that moves around because water is under it. Sophie wouldn't get near it, but Bugg LOVED the watery side!

What little cuties!

There are also slides in the playground area. We decided to take the girls for a ride down the curvy one. Here's Dixie's go. You can hear a mom say "that dog's gunna go down the slide!"

Sophie's turn was next... notice how she tries to stop me from entering the slide by putting out her paws... and as she goes down, watch her little leggies wriggling!!!

What a great morning with our favorite girls!

WE WONS!!!

Hi its Sophie and Dixie! We just won this week's "Project Dogway" competition at Winston and Clemmie's blog, Ladypug Mugs!!! We had to create an LOL for a really cool image, provided by Emmitt. This is what we wrote:

I tried to get Dixie to come up with a caption but all she kept saying was "nom nom nom" and then would LOL and snort for like an hour. UGH. So I came up with this gem. Well, Mommy helped a little, because she explained lobsters to us. These doggies are dressed as lobsters. And when lobsters go into a tub of hot water, it is not for relaxation. They get EATEN. So I figured if Dixie and I were lobsters and I wanted to trick her I could tell her it was a hot tub... and then from that, I came up with the LOL caption!

What would Mommy do without me?! She wouldn't win Project Dogway that is fur sure!

I has a new game!

Hi it's Sophie!!! I have a really fun new game that I realized. I can fit under the couch and 9 out of 10 times, Dixie will not follow me!

I'm a pretty good tease! Look at me stick out from under the couch!

Dixie follows me sometimes but gets stuck a lot.

Check out this pawsome video of me teasing Dixie with my new game! Check out how I just pop out of nowhere to bark at her.

Oh and just for kicks I threw in this picture...

Dixie looking stupid. As per usual.

The "Le Pug" Meme

I took this great meme from Adore Le Pug! I'm hoping it will make the craziness of my Monday a little bit better.

Rules: Obey the Pug, answer the following, and pass on!

1) How did you first learn about Pugs?

I had seen them in movies, like MIB, and always thought they were cute, but thought little of it. I was a senior in High School, and was doing a lot of those classes where really, you didn't do any work, but got to browse the internet in the computer lab. My friend Hillary pulled up her favorite kind of dog, and so I was browsing puppy pictures and decided my two favorite kinds of dogs were pugs or chihuahuas. Not long after, my dad very coincidentally told my sisters and me that he was "thinking" about getting a pug, since his co-worker and his wife bred their pugs, and brought in the tiny puppies to run around the office, thus hooking my dad. Getting Oli was my first pug experience!

2) What made you get a Pug?

Well, no one bothered to tell my mom about our dad getting us a pug, she found out when she found the list of names (three pages) my sisters and I made. The only single name that all three of us had circled was "Oliver," thus, we adopted him at the beginning of May 2003. My dad passed away the following January, and my mother kept him until he died in September 2007. She'll never admit it, but she was hooked too! We got our two now because I had been dying to get one after I moved, and especially feeling the loss of pug in my life with Oliver gone! Brian and I had just got our house and got the girls only 6 days later.

3) Most memorable moment with your Pug (s).

There are a cutest and saddest. (I'm focusing on Oliver since there are WAY too many already and more to come with Sophie and Dixie!) The cutest one was when he was a wee puppy, and I brought him to my sister's softball game. Our gym teacher Gary (who was SO HOT) was there, and started making fun of him! Something like, "that is the ugliest dog I have EVER seen, yada yada..." well Oli took a huge, snotty sneeze and blew greenish nose goo all over Gary's white shirt. HILARIOUS! The saddest memorable moment was when I was in upstate NY and found out Oliver was going to be put to sleep because he was far too sick to wait for me to get home. I got to get on the phone, and my mom held it up to him in the doctor's office, and I told him not to be scared, and that I loved him, and that he would be out of pain and so much happier after this. It was so hard, but I'll never forget hearing those tiny soft breaths, it was comforting for me, and I hope I comforted him.

4) What is the most important thing Pugs (or dogs) have taught you?

They help teach me to laugh even when things are not going right. I absolutely could not survive without them! And they teach me everyday about unconditional love... they are so innocent, so loving.

5) Best Thing You Ever Did For Your Pugs….aside from loving them, keeping them healthy & happy, and giving them a great life.

For Oliver, probably the best we did was letting him go when he did, he was so so ill. The work we've done socializing Sophie and Dixie has been great, the best part though was that we kept them together. They are lost without one another (well, Sophie is lost without Dixie, haha) and I think that it's a huge part of their happiness that they are together.

6) Post your answers on why you “Adore Le Pug” on your blog and link to the blog who tagged you (or their blog post).

7) Tag 5 or more other bloggers.

I tag Salinger, Suki Sumo & Mojo Risin', Petra, Brutus & Ozzy, and Winston & Clemmie!

Lazy Weekend Review

Happy Sunday, everyone! Brian and I had a great, relaxing weekend. We went to a friend's surprise birthday party, gave the puggies a bath, and saw two movies!!! Pineapple Express, which was good, and Tropic Thunder, which was AWESOME!!! Some will (and have) found it offensive for various reasons, but if you aren't easily offended (like us!), then you will think it is an amazing, hilarious, laugh-out-loud movie. Brian will vouch, I NEVER laugh out loud, and usually say "That's so funny!" instead of laughing. So when I "LOL" in a move theatre, you know something is right. I'd say it lands between Zoolander and Wedding Crashers on the funny scale.

We of course spent some lounge time with the pugs. Poor Dixie fell for the oldest trick in the book!

Sophie also got a taste of some delicious pear from Brian. Check out that action shot!

The prize for winning the costume contest a few weeks back was a bag of food, which we starting giving the girls when they ran out of their current supply. Well, I've noticied that Sophie is chewing on her feet less. She is a compulsive leg/paw chewer and it makes them look almost bruised at times. I've heard around that it might be skin irritation/itch from a wheat allergy. It turns out, the food we won was wheat-free. Her treats still have wheat, but I think it may be making a difference. Anyone else have any experience with this?? Or know of any good wheat-free food or treats for us to try? I hope we are onto something with this!

Scaring Buggs

Daddy totalllllly loves me! Much more than the bugg. I have picture proof.

And you know who is insanely jealous of our connection? That's right, the ruffle-chip-tongue b-u-g-g BUGG.

Daddy gives me kisses, but look what he does to Dixie! (Sorry for the indecent bugg-exposure. Also Mommy's voice sounds so stupid, she says "don't judge me.")

What a wanna-be Daddy's-girl.

JOSEPH STAINS YOU HAVE COMPETITION.

Mommy is very mad. And I have to keep making this sad face so she thinks that I feel bad about what I did.

Their bedroom door must be warped or something because they can never close it all the way. They have to like, slam it so it sticks almost all the way closed. I guess now they have to REALLY get the door fixed if they want me to stop leaving my mark!!!! Joe Stains, you have met your match!

"Sisterly" Love?

I'm not sure what's going on with the girls... it all started so innocently.

Are those "sisterly" kisses? Maybe. But this isn't...

Looking away doesn't mean it isn't happening Dixie! And it sure doesn't mean I can't see what you're both doing!!!! Scandal!

CAUGHT RED PAWED!!!!

Names and Kiddies

Hi everyone it is Sophie the great!

We thought that Rachel at the Ladypug Mugs blog did two really great entries about kids being mean to Winston and Clemmie. HOW RUDE!!! So we decided to talk about that too. Since kiddies have been pretty mean to us. One time a boy threw me down after my... ahem... buxom bosom... flopped onto his arm. I've been called a cow, and gross. I can't help it! I mean, Dixie gets called retarded a lot but that's her own fault, since she is. But I'm gorgeous, and I don't know why people don't see it all the time!

However right after Mommy read us that blog, we went on a walk and met some more kiddies! There were two girls and their Mommy, and then their friends and their Mommy came over too. They held the Bugg and me a lot and petted us and one of them begged for another doggie like us to take home. I wanted Mommy to take pictures but she feels weird asking people if they are ok with it, since she posts them. But it was a good experience since they were so nice to us. We wish more kiddies had great parents that would teach them tolerance and acceptance. My nails are pretty sharp right now, so if the kiddies were mean I totally would have "accidentally" scratched them!!

Also, Ladypug Mugs and Stella had this great fun project- a list of their "other" names! Me and Dixie are going to do it too!

Here are my names:

1. Sophie Pig
2. Sophieeeeeee

Deep-Fried Pepsi

Pug and Bugg's mom here... since so many of you commented on the deep-fried Pepsi, here is a link about it:

Deep Fried Pepsi

It's from last year's state fair... apparently this year's big thing was deep-fried bananas foster cheesecake... ick. We did not go near that stuff. We had deep-fried Reeses cups last year and they were the BEST! Plus, back in New Jersey we had deep-fried Oreos years ago! Gotta love America.

NO prizes for pugs.

Mommy and Daddy did not win us ANY prizes at the Indiana State Fair. We are extremely mad. Look at what they COULD have won...

YES, that is a pile of pugs!!! Two of the three types are RATHER inaccurately colored (there are no DARK BROWN or BLUE pugs, peoples) but still, we would have accepted any of the three as a prize for staying home for five hours or so. They said they tried to win but it got too expensive. Mommy was really crappy with the camera and didn't take a lot of pictures, but she showed us the few she took. They included some livestock!

This is Harley, the "WORLD'S Largest Bore." I think it's pretty bore-ing too. I'm not sure how they weigh a bore, but I think a huge 1,121 pound pig that just lays around is a large bore. World's largest, I'm not sure, have you ever spent a day with Dixie? That might be the WORLD'S largest bore.

Here is a sheep in The Artist Formerly Known As Prince's clothing. WTF is up with the purple outfit!?!!? A bunch of other ones were dressed up like in sheets! Sheep in sheets!? (You can kind of see some behind these two.) I really don't get this State Fair business.

Well, that's not 100% true. I do get going to the fair for the FOOD!!! Look at these offerings!!! Deep fried cookie dough, Snickers, Reeses... Mom and Dad said they also had deep fried Pepsi, brownies, Twinkies... the works. The humans did not have any which is crap. They ate some roasted corn on the cob though, which is acceptable. I would have appreciated some PICTURES, MOM!!!! Thanks a bunch for a whole lotta nuthin'!

Fun With Aunt Pammy-Pam!

Hi pugs, terrierists, and other canines,

Today our aunt Pammy-Pam came over for dah lunch!

We did not get to eat ANY of the lunch (okay we got a little but a very unfair amount, thank Dogness that aunt Pammy-Pam was there to make sure we didn't STARVE!) She totally loves me and is obsessed with me. However she did have to give fair and equal time to the Bugg.

Bugg has her tongue nose-guard up again, ugh, what a sillybugg!!!! Aunt Pammy-Pam was really nice to the Bugg too so I am sure she was fulfilling some sort of charity service hours or something. I mean, LOOK what she did:

(She didn't really drink it, don't worry!!!!)

We were really tired after so we plopped down with Mommy. They are at the State Fair now. We hope they bring some prizes home from the games for us!!!

To summarize today: Aunt Pammy-Pam is great because she reads our blog and gives us food, our humans stink because they do NOT give us food, and we like to sleep.
