Edward

After such a wonderful post yesterday from Sophie, I hate posting another sad one. This is an e-mail I got from Kentuckiana Pug Rescue yesterday.

You HATE puppy mills...right? And you wonder..how can you help? What can YOU do to make a difference? Well, here is your chance!

Edward, Jacob and Bella were pulled from a puppy mill by a kind hearted person who works tirelessly to get these dogs to their breed specific rescues. We were thankfully asked to take in this Trio of Terrific little Puggies!

Being whisked immediately to the vet (photo of all 3 is at the vet's office), they were diagnosed with upper respiratory infections. Edward however, is a true victim of the poor breeding at puppy mills. He suffers from dysplastic elbows as well as a hernia.

He is unable to bear weight on his front legs at this point and does suffer some discomfort. His surgical costs will be very expensive. We are asking all of you who can to please contribute to Edward's medical expenses. Can you find it in your heart to help this defenseless little Pug puppy see it thru to his twilight years with some sense of normalcy??

We have all hope and expectation that once surgery is performed, with some TLC and physical therapy, Edward will be a very functional little Pug.

If each person contributed $10.00 -20.00 we would have enough to cover his surgery in no time at all. We know things are tough right now, but these Pugs don't stand a chance without the compassion and dedication of people like you!

Thanks for helping our new friend Edward if you are able. There are too many sad stories for doggies going on right now, and we hope that all of the doggies who need help will be getting it soon! Thanks for being such kind, caring, and compassionate friends to us all!

OUR FIRST MUTT STRUT!

WOW! Sophie here and am I ever tired. I can barely work up the energy to type this. We had the Mutt Strut this weekend. A few of you even donated to our efforts and so we were proud to represent you guys at the event! Mom made us wear stoooopid bandanas that were black and white. She said they were like the flags that they have at races, since we were going to the racetrack.

We had to wait in the car while Dad put gas in the car.

I wanted to go out and help Dad! Mom wouldn't let me.

Notice there is also a liquor store outside. That's my kind of errand!

Harles was excited for the nice weather!

When we left, Dad let Dixie drive. Scary, right?!

Look at this Bugg. Does she look capable of driving around a large Jeep?

When we got there, my siblings and I were excited to read all the pee-mail and hang out in the gorgeous weather.

This dog was one of MANY we saw that we have never ever seen before. We usually only see dogs that are, well, pugs. This one was HUGE and fluffy and had its hair in a ponytail, and also had a stooopid bandana!

This dog we know of since some of our blogger friends are the same: Doxies! She was wearing a HAT! BOL! How did her human get her to do that!?!?!

We also recognize this type of dog- an AIREDALE! It is a Colts fan just like us!

This dog was like, super fat and short.

Look at all the humans!!!!!

Harles peed on a water jug!!!! How embarrassing.

Then we met Brewster. Holy cow. This dog was a chee-wa-wa, whatever that means, and he wore SUNGLASSES.

Yea we don't get it either. How did they stay on? Mom would NEVER get sunglasses on me, that's for sure.

Strangely, Mom approved of this sunglasses-wearing pup.

What's funny is Mom forgot her sunglasses, but Brewster didn't! BOL!

This dog was furry and really pretty and had blue eyes!

These dogs are common and we see their type a lot. They are always nice to us!

This dog was sniffing my water bowl so I gave him a good sniffin' too.

THESE dogs... wow. I have never seen anything like them. Tall, super-skinny, and like... floaty hair like Mommy's hanging down. They were like 2 inches thick I'm serious!!!! That's crazy!

Dixie met another dog like Brewster... a chee-wa-wa.

This doggie was ridin' like a diva in her cart!

These are our new friends Carson and Tallulah. Their dad Troy was the team leader of our Mommy's team!

They got to ride in style in this stroller. They seem to like each other a lot.

Then we met some of Mommy and Daddy's friends' che-wa-wa's. The brown one is Violet, and she met me and Dixie first.

I gave Violet a good sniffin'. In the back there is her brother, Batman.

Here are Violet and Batman. Their pawrents are Mommy and Daddy's friends!

OMD THIS DOG IS SOOOO FUNNY LOOKING!!!! You should have seen his face he was making really funny faces!

This is Troy Mom's team leader. He wore a tutu because he lost a bet. Our team was Comedy Sportz, which is where Troy works. It is a cool improv comedy place. If you live near Indy you should check it out! We wanted to but Mom said no dogs are allowed there.

Here is Dixie before the walk. We were still just hanging out waiting to walk and she was ALREADY pooped! Proof she put on way too much winter weight.

There was like a massively huge dog on our team. Mom said it was a Great Dane. He tried to say hi to Batman.

Batman was like, not at all happy about this dog saying hi.

Here are the che-wa-wa's, Violet and Batman! Together they weigh like half as much as one of us!

Our pal Emma was tired before the walk too.

THIS DOG HAD BLUE HAIR! BOL! He had a mohawk!

Look, Violet has some teefies showing!

Finally after hanging out and looking at Doggies, we head to the track. Batman rode in the wagon first.

This is what it looked like. It was SO BIG!

Look how it is on an incline!

Harles had to use the wagon first. He sort of drags his feet and they start to bleed a little bit where his nails start. He also breathes really loud and people were like, "Um your dog is loud!" BOL!!!!

His tongue was out for like, EVER!

Mom and Dad thought that Dixie would walk the whole way. Nope she is wayyy fatter now and jumped right in the cart like pretty soon after Harles.

Look how happy she is! She made herself at home!

I was the only trooper. I NEVER had to use the cart.

They are so silly... Dixie should have walked maybe she would lose a few pounds, BOL!

There was a lot of tongue hanging action in the wagon.

There was a lot of great green grass that we weren't allowed to run on.

Our friend Violet got hot so her mom gave her a quick dunk in some water!

Dixie and Harley were happy to rest while Violet got a bath!

The trip around the track was 2.5 miles. Our usual walks are probably about .1 miles.

Dad thought I should go in the wagon. I disagreed.

Right after Mommy took the picture I jumped right out.

Violet was such a good girl. If her mom put her down she wouldn't even run away!

I decided that I did not want to ride in the wagon, or walk. Therefore Dad had to carry me. BOL!!!!

This dog was like, the prettiest color ever!

We had to wait when we were done so that we could get a team picture.

Dixie was seriously DONE for the day.

When we got in the car, I passed out on Mommy RIGHT away! Look at the sunburn on Mommy's face too!

Dixie decided she wanted to be on the floor near the A/C vent! Smart girl!

We had such a fun time and can't wait for next year!

Joan of Arc

Hey guys! It's Sophie. Mom wants to write a bit too first so we will let her write in italics. She already wrote today... ugh! She is soooo frustrating!

Hi everyone, Kelly here. I saw something today that just turned my dog-world upside-down. I will warn you now: THESE PHOTOS ARE VERY HARD TO LOOK AT. They are of Joanie ("Joan of Arc") who was found along a highway in Texas, starved and literally hanging onto her life. She weighed about 3 and a half pounds when they rescued her. She is luckily doing better, but seeing stories like this and looking into beautiful Joanie's eyes makes me question some humans and how someone could just look at her and let it happen, especially with so many great rescue organizations available nation- and world-wide. The link to the rescue page is here, with All Texas Dachshund Rescue. Doxies are my favorite breed of dog after pugs, my neighbors growing up had one and I was in love. It absolutely broke my heart to see this, and I hope some of you readers will share this story with your friends and donate here if you can.

Ok Sophie, you can go now!

Geez, finally Mom!

Ok so when Mom showed us pictures of Joanie we wanted to have her be our friend and visit us. Mom said she can't and that made us sad. It also made us sad how much food we get and all our treatables we eat, when she didn't get any. Luckily she is getting some now. If we could have given her some to make her better we would have! Dixie felt really bad since she has been packin' on the pounds this winter. We vowed to be more healthy with our treat-intake and share with other doggies who need it. We know Joanie would do the same for us. Thanks for helping her if you can!

Pugjama-Gram?

Today I got this Pajama-Gram catalog in the mail. While thumbing through it, look what I saw...

Look closely... do you see a little furry pudge?

Yep that's right you can get Pajamas that match for the whole family- pug included! The dog set is only $19.95 and comes with a doghouse gift box and a dog biscuit! As the pugs say- "BOL!" It says SuperDog!

Clearly they are a "super" family because of their canine companion.

White Tee's and Flat Tires

Hi it's Sophie again. I have to keep convincing lazy Mama to let us blog, she's just beat lately! How BORING. Anywho we got a package today. It was three white tee-shirts.

We asked Mom, "what are they for?"

She told us, but we can't tell you! It's a surprise! It's a fun crafty project for her and you'll find out in a month or two. I hope you can stand waiting!

Anyways I think it looks best on me so I'm ok with it.

Then Mom also brought home something pretty neat. It's this beer that is in a huge bottle and it's from COLORADO!! We have some friends out there so I thought maybe they were visiting, but they weren't.

This yummy beer was only available west of the Miss Eye-Sippy, which I don't know what it means, but I do know they JUST brought it to Indiana aka the HOOSIER state! That's OUR state! So when Mommy drank hers she let me take a sip.

Have you guys tried Fat Tire? Have your paw-rents? If not, ask them to sneak you a taste!

My BTOT & Introducing: Mr. Hedgie!

Hey hey loyal readers! Mom worked a night last night and boy was she tired! Today she only worked 'til like 2 or 3, which meant she got home and put up her feet with us! Mostly me:

Seriously, aren't I the cutest pug this side of the Mississippi? I thought so.

Anywho, my BFF Pearlie-Poo posted about her BTOT, and I wanted to share mine!!! Like Pearl, I have the only BTOT in the house. Which makes me the BTOT Princess.

Glamorous! Oh and Mom was super nice to us today- she bought us a new toy to replace Mr. Beaver. His name is Mr. Hedgie and he is a Hedgehog.

He probably won't last very long judging by what a liking Dixie took to him. She did about 50 laps (left turns only as per usual) with him which I think means there is a high possibility of imminent death for Mr. Hedgie.

When Mom was up throwing around Mr. Hedgie, look what Harles did!!!!

What did he think it was his turn to blog or something? DUH it's my turn like almost ALWAYS!!! Back off, brother!

Visitor Recap and RIP Mr. Beaver...

Kelly here! Wow have we been busy. My Mom left on Monday night and Steve left Sunday. On Monday my Mom and I went wedding dress shopping and bought one! If you e-mail me at the pug's e-mail and ask real nice, maybe I will show you :)

Here is Harley with his grandma. She will probably kill me for posting this!!!

Here is "Uncle Steve" with the pugs. He decided to imitate Dixie's face!!!!

We had such a great weekend together and some good family time. On Tuesday I started my job waitressing!! I am in training so my life has been BUSY. I have homework and on top of that, job interviews for a 9-5 position! I'm just glad to have something in the meantime.

We have some sad news. Our friend Clover sent us a toy a while ago, Mr. Beaver, in her fun package she sent us for winning a drawing on her blog. Well, RIP Mr. Beaver. He perished on April 14, 2009, at the hands of Miss Dixie Cuddlebugg. Here she is showing off the kill.

Here you can see how his little leg is ripped off and belly ripped open. Sophie... what are you doing?!?!?!

Oh look.... there is his squeaker sitting on my computer. Poor Mr. Beaver... he never had a chance.

We also want to give a quick shout-out to SALINGER! It is his second birthday... yep he is just a spring chicken!!! Even though he and Sophie broke up, we still LOVE S-Dog and hope his second year will be the best yet!!!

HAPPY EASTER!

Ok, ok. We know we haven't blogged a lot. I (Sophie) keep telling Mom too but she's been SO busy! Guess why? Our favorite Uncle Steve and our Grandma (Mommy's Mommy) are here!!! Harles has never met them so he was the most excited I think.

We will get her to tell you more about it later but since it is EASTER our Mom put the stupid ears on us. Luckily there were only 2 ears for 3 of us but we all still had to wear them, UGH. Uncle Steve got in these pictures but didn't have to wear the ears... so unfair. Well ENJOY our MISERY!

The Puggiest Party EVER!

WELL we have been sleeping for the past few days? Why? I'll tell ya. Dixie, Harley and me (Sophie) went to the meetup on Saturday!!! Our friend Pugsley's human brother brought some cookie cake, Dixie was really into it...

We also made a new friend, Madison. She's also a KPR pug but she's new to the meetup. Harles greeted her in a gentlemanly way.

Dixie flirted with Woodrow the BT again. Look she's saying "Yoor not mah Murfeee!!!"

And Woody is saying "Your butt smells good!"

Harles was the ONLY good pug out of the three of us at the meetup! You'll find out why Dixie was bad in a second. I was bad 'cause Brutus' foster sister was sniffin' at me and so I played a little biteyface. I received a timeout under Daddy's arm.

Mom thought Dixie might be a good girl if she was allowed to run free like most of the puggies. So, Daddy agreed and they let go of the leash. For a while she didn't realize.

Naturally, we were jealous.

But then Dixie decided to run up into the parking lot and get almost hit by a car. So after Mom and Dad had about seven heart attacks, she was leashed up again. Then Mommy went home and had a glass of wine!

After Mommy calmed herself they took us over to the Pug Posse's house! We went outside- all NINETEEN of us- and saw this cool huge dog on the side of the fence.

We ran that big dog back and forth, back and forth! I think we really showed him what's up.

It was so fun but I wish he would've jumped the fence so we could REALLY play with him!

This is Mom and that foster pug, Brutus' sister Miley. Who does she think she is entertaining my Mom with a cute tongue! That's MY job!

Here's Mom with Vikki! She was so nice to have us all over!

Besides Apollo's mom, this is all the blog moms from Indy!!!!

And then here are our daddies!

Seriously who lets the bugg leave the house like this?!?!?!?!

These are the pug brothers Sam, Holden and Justin! There are only three but they are all really nice and fun!

Here's one of the other pugs that's up for adoption, Molly! She is Hank's sister! That's Hank's pawrents with Molly.

Here is a picture you'll have to read about on Hank's blog!!!!

Salinger's ultra-cool Mama made a CAKE since it was two days after our Mom's birthday! LOOK it is Dixie, ME, and Harles!!!! It looks JUST like us!!!!

Mom was about to do birthday things like blowing out her candles when SOMEHOW my clone Bernice got on her back!

Deciding to set myself apart I went incognito for the rest of the bash. "I wear my sunnnnglasses at nightttttt...."

Phew! That's all for now. Time to go back to sleeping, we are still recovering. Maybe Mom can post some videos for us soon? There are some funny ones!

That's Na-cho Cheese!

Hi, it's Sophie, Mom has been laughing/scolding me, and I really don't see what the big deal is.

She had some breadsticks and cheese to dip it in, and when she went to heat up the breadsticks for like oh 30 seconds, I decided to help myself to that delicious little container of cheesy goodness. It was just like those lovely treats Clover got us but... better.

I don't see what the problem is Mama! You left it on the end table and I HAPPEN to be able to reach that from the couch with little effort.

I got it all over my face because I knew with the limited amount of microwave time, she'd force me down soon, and then I could savor the cheesy goodness on my face while Mama searched for her camera. I didn't account for the time she'd spend laughing but that helped too. I have most of it cleaned off!

Yum! I just don't get why Mama kept saying "that's na-cho cheese!!!!!

Bugg's Birthday Striptease...

Kelly here! What a lovely post the pugs wrote about me before! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!

Ok, I will level with you... gratuitous bugg nudity is below. So, if you are offended by the sight of a pug "gumdrop" (as we tend to call it) then don't scroll down! But if you are like Murphy and find that enticing... check out how I FOUND Dixie earlier! (That's right... I did not pose her at all!)

.

Is that.... comfortable?

I guess NOT for Murphy's eyes only?

Harles is such a gentlepug and looking away!!!

I'll share more about my wonderful birthday soon!

Thursday Thirteen- Mom's BARKDAY Edition!

Hey it's Sophie and mah siblings. Guess what today is!!?!? MOMMA'S BARKDAY!!! She is 24 which is like.... insanely old in dog years. Like, 168 years old. Jeez.

Ok so our Auntie Kelly aka my BFF Pearlie-Poo's mom helped us make this picture for our Mom!

That got us thinking about what a great Mom she is so we decided to do our first Thursday Thirteen about things we love about our Mammalicious Mom!

The first one we'll do together, and then we'll do 4 each.

1. We love Mommy because- she gives us FOOD and treats!

Sophie:
2. She pets my head in the right spot
3. She makes sure I eat foods that are good for me and make me not get sick again
4. She always furminates me when I get too sheddy and uncomfortable
5. She dresses me up in girly clothes that are sooo beautiful!

Dixie:

7. Shee givz me dah bugg rubbz
8. Shee trows mah toeyz fur mee
9. Shee letz mee rite dah Bugg Gooroo on dah bloggie

Harley:

11. She lets me practice my tricks "sit" and "speak" but always gives me treats, even when I don't do the best job
12. She lets me sleep on her tummy when I want to
13. She forgives me for my moments of bitey-face weakness

We love you Mommy!

Workin' it for KPR!

Kelly here! I think Sophie did a great job posting earlier (no Wordless Wednesday for us!) but I had to add a few things!

Ok, be honest... how many pug (or other type of dog, if you are so inclined) cards do you have sitting around? That you bought just because they have pugs on them!? I realized I was out about a month or two ago... and I picked these up in MARCH. Not including the ones I purchased in March and SENT. Really, I have a problem. Brian's birthday note was on a BT card though... part shout-out to Murphy, part mixing it up!

I also forgot to post about this treasure from March in the Pugs. Hank's mom showed it to us and we HAD to have it. Brian and I love coming up with cheesy parodies of songs to involve pugs, and many are Beatles songs, such as: "Happinesssss is a warm pug (snort snort lick lick)" so this cup made us very, very happy.

One side has "Sgt. Puggers Lonely Barks Pug Band" and the other says "All you need is PUGS!"

What I love about these events are that there are a ton of vendors, and also a ton of people who donated their goods for the hugely popular raffles! So I have begun to do some work for KPR to find donations for our events. It is some dog stuff, and then also some non-dog stuff, like candles, or gift cards, or even stuff like the Indiana University basket we won. Of course gift cards will have to work for Indiana and/or Kentucky, unless they are a national or online chain. The dog things we are getting donations for used to be more like collars/leashes, but we've branched out to things like vet shot packages, crates, and even dog beds! Do you know of someone who would like to donate their items? I would love to know!! Or if you have ideas of non-traditional places that I could ask for donations, please let me know. If anyone does great donations, I might just post about it! Also, the donations are tax deductible. Tomorrow I am going to my favorite cupcake shop to talk to them about it and to pick up some cupcakes! I think I like this donations thing...

Dixie got a surprise from her boyfriend...

WOW! My sister Dixie got a hugely great surprise today!

Murphy Dogg, Dixie's hunka hunka burnin' BT boyfriend, sent her something! We all went crazy over it.

You can see in these pictures Dixie let her tongue hang out most of the time, probably because she loves Murphy so much. Or because she's not all there. Anyways he sent her (aka us) his new CD!!! He enclosed a note saying that since she's his girlfriend, she should have a copy! WOOHOO! We don't have ANY CD's of our own except ones from Murphy! (He made her a mix tape a while ago!)

Look at the look of love on Dixie's face here.

We all crowded around but couldn't hear anything!!!! WTF!!! But then Mom put it in her computer and it played!!! One song had barking and we FREAKED OUT! And then one song Murphy sings and it is soooo funny! We had a great time listening to it.

Thanks so much Murphy for taking care of stupid Dixieboogerrrrrr!!!!!

Oh guess what peoples, tomorrow is our Mama's BARKDAY!!!!!!!!!! What should we get for her?!??!
